Michigan Army National Guard 1436th Engineering Company Digs Deep

FORT POLK, LA. --

Soldiers from the Michigan Army National Guard’s 1436th Engineering Company traveled with 53 Soldiers and 73 pieces of heavy equipment and conducted training at Fort Polk, Joint Readiness Training Center located in Leesville, La. March 16-24, 2016.

During a highly successful week of training the 1436th cleared four landing zones for future air assault operations and training, created an area of operations capable of supporting an aviation battalion sized element, and provided Soldiers and equipment for the load and off-load of Task Force Red Bull vehicles and equipment. The 1436th also supported the 460th Chemical Company mass casualty decontamination line with water using their 3 organic 6000-gallon water distribution systems.

“Our unit performed exceptionally well and multiple Soldiers received coins recognizing exceptional performance from Brig. Gen. Pablo Estrada, Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Lincoln, and Col. Thomas Vern,” said 1st Lt. Barry Beranek, Executive Officer, 1436th Engineering Company.

The 1436 Engineering Company provided heavy equipment support for the emergency response and decontamination exercises at Fort Polk Joint Readiness Training Center in Leesville, La. March 16-25, 2016.
